KCAN X4 Firmware
KCAN is the default firmware for Kunhong's second-generation USB-CANFD platform. The 8.15.2 Stable package lists KCAN X4 as a separate firmware entry for CAN / CAN FD debugging and development.
The firmware runs on the device. kcan-bus is the Windows GUI, KCANBasic is the Windows development library, and KH-UCANFD Linux SDK provides Linux drivers, tools, and development documentation.
| Workflow | Host path | Maintained source |
|---|---|---|
| Windows x64 debugging | WinUSB + kcan-bus | Kunhong documentation: kcan-bus (Chinese) |
| Windows development | KCANBasic, distributed with the kcan-bus project | Kunhong Gitee: source and development instructions |
| Linux / SocketCAN | The SDK's kcan driver | Kunhong documentation: SDK installation (Chinese) |
If your project requires gs_usb, use GS USB firmware instead. KCAN's kcan driver is a separate path.
Release Scope
- Source:
firmware-release.jsonin 8.15.2 Stable, released 2026-10-22; checked 2026-10-30. - The manifest lists 4 channels, subject to hardware and license support. This does not establish four-channel availability on every CANmeleon device.
- kcan-bus documentation currently covers Windows x64 and KCAN X4 mode. Linux hardware and kernel scope is maintained in the SDK documentation.
- This package requires device manager 0.8.1 or later. Use CANmeleon device manager and its applicability result for the connected device.
- Driver version ranges, throughput, latency, jitter, timestamps, error frames, synchronization, and hardware comparisons still need scoped test records. This update reviewed package metadata, not physical hardware behavior.
The platform overview is maintained in Kunhong's KCAN documentation (Chinese). See also the release inventory and firmware catalog.
